In 2014, I was selected as one of fifteen students to become a Franklin Institute Stem Scholar. The selection process was extremely competitive, based on scholastic aptitude and sincere interest in STEM subjects. The program provides personalized mentorship with professionals of the Franklin Institute, as well as other Stem professionals in Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley. As a Franklin Institute Stem Scholar, I attend weekly meetings during the school year where I am introduced to various Stem subjects, projects and cutting edge hands-on technology. During the summer, I attend classes for academic enrichment, field trips and receive instruction from professors at several universities in the area. During my senior year, part of the Stem Scholars Program focuses on college readiness to prepare students to transition from high school to college life.

Women’s Student Union, Chair, 2017
I have been involved in Cheltenham High School’s Women’s Student Union since 2014 (freshman year). In 2017 I was selected as the chairperson of the Women’s Student Union. As Chair, I am responsible for inviting speakers, and working to revise the Health Education Department to be more inclusive and less biased in its curriculum. One of our annual events is the "Pad-Jama" party, where we raise money to purchase feminine hygiene products for women in need. I meet with the Principal and other administrators on a monthly basis to discuss our agenda. I am responsible for inviting outside speakers to address the high school at large on various topics, including race and gender identity and education on rape culture. We were recently invited to attend the PA Women’s Conference where attended workshops and interacted with other professional women, including Mrs. Michelle Obama and Shonda Rhimes.

After receiving the support of the Principal, I was charged with finding a sponsor. As a result, in 2014, Cheltenham High School became the first school in the area to offer a Girls Who Code Club.
